How the Work Is Defined

Ongoing IT Relationship or Defined Project

The right structure depends on the need, the existing environment, and who is responsible for each part of the work.

Ongoing Managed IT

A recurring relationship can combine user support, maintenance, monitoring, planning, and coordination under a documented service scope.

  • Best for continuing operational needs
  • Can work alongside an internal IT employee or technology contact when ownership, access, and escalation are clearly defined

Defined Technology Project

Microsoft 365, AI consulting, cybersecurity, network, backup, phone, or camera work may begin as a bounded project with agreed objectives and responsibilities.

  • Best for a specific change or implementation
  • May require coordination with carriers, internet providers, software platforms, manufacturers, or other approved providers

Responsibilities, included services, scope, and pricing are documented in the proposal or service agreement.

Common Questions

IT Services FAQs

Straight answers to help you choose the right starting point.

Do we need Managed IT or a one-time project?

Managed IT fits ongoing support, maintenance, protection, and planning. A project fits a specific change, such as an installation, migration, or network upgrade. BCIT can discuss the starting point during the free initial assessment. You do not have to buy ongoing management simply because you need one defined project.

Can BCIT work alongside an internal IT employee?

Yes. We can discuss a shared arrangement with your internal IT employee or technology contact. The useful starting point is who handles support, administration, changes, and escalation. Responsibilities and access are documented so work does not fall between two teams or get duplicated.

Do you provide onsite service outside Battle Creek?

Yes. BCIT provides remote support and planned onsite work across its Southwest Michigan service area. Managed plans include visits, with frequency and covered work defined in the agreement. The project and service scope explain anything outside that coverage. During office hours, our typical initial response is within an hour, often sooner.

Can one company coordinate these service areas?

BCIT can serve as a point of contact across managed IT, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, AI consulting, networks, backup, phones, and cameras. We explain the work we handle and where a carrier, software vendor, or another provider is involved. A coordinated relationship should make those responsibilities clearer, not imply that one company controls every dependency.

What happens during the free assessment?

We discuss your business needs, explain how BCIT works, share informational materials, and perform an initial technical assessment onsite, including network discovery with professional network-testing equipment. This is a practical starting point. Detailed investigation, formal reporting, or specialized security and compliance work is discussed separately when needed.
