Migration, Security & Management

Get Everything You're Already Paying Microsoft For

Most small businesses use a fraction of what their Microsoft 365 subscription includes, while the security settings that matter sit on defaults. Battle Creek IT migrates, secures, and manages Microsoft 365 so it works like the platform you're paying for.

The Honest Truth

Microsoft 365 Set Up Right Is a Different Product

Almost every business we meet already has Microsoft 365. Very few have it configured well. Email works, sure. But files still live on an aging server in a closet, Teams is a place where one channel went to die, nobody can explain the licensing bill, and the security settings protecting all of it are whatever the defaults happened to be on setup day.

That gap matters because Microsoft 365 done right replaces hardware you'd otherwise keep buying. Your documents move to SharePoint and OneDrive with proper permissions. New computers arrive at your office, get unboxed, and configure themselves through Windows Autopilot. Devices are managed and patched through Intune wherever they are. And the security baseline gets hardened as part of our security first approach instead of being left on factory settings.

We've moved Battle Creek area businesses to Microsoft 365 from old email hosts, other providers, and on premises servers, and we manage their tenants daily. This is the core of our stack, not a side offering.

Signs Your Microsoft 365 Needs Attention

  • MFA is missing or optional The single most exploited gap in small business tenants.
  • Files still live on an office server You're paying for cloud storage you aren't using.
  • The licensing bill is a mystery Nobody knows what plans you have or why.
  • New PCs take a day to set up Modern deployment makes them ready out of the box.
What We Do

Full Lifecycle Microsoft 365 Services

From first migration to daily management, every layer handled by one local team.

Migrations Without the Drama

Email, calendars, contacts, and files moved from any platform, old email hosts, other cloud providers, or on premises servers. Cutover is planned around your business hours and nothing gets lost in transit.

Tenant Security Hardening

Multifactor authentication enforced, conditional access policies, hardened baselines, and continuous Secure Score improvement. Part of the same security first standard behind our cybersecurity services.

Device Management with Intune

Every company computer enrolled, configured, encrypted, and patched automatically. New machines deploy through Windows Autopilot: unbox, sign in, and it builds itself to your standard.

Teams, SharePoint & OneDrive

File structures designed around how your business actually works, permissions that make sense, and collaboration that genuinely replaces the file server instead of duplicating it.

Licensing Right-Sizing

We audit what you're paying against what each person actually needs, match users to the correct plans, and cut the licenses nobody can explain. This review alone often funds the rest of the project.

Cloud-First Server Retirement

When the workload fits, we decommission aging servers entirely: files to SharePoint, identity to the cloud, devices joined directly to Microsoft Entra. No more server room, no VPN headaches, no five figure hardware refresh.

How a Migration Actually Goes

STEP 1

Assess

We inventory your current email, files, devices, and licensing, and map what's moving where. You get a plan in plain language with a real timeline.

STEP 2

Migrate

Data syncs in the background while you keep working. The final cutover happens off hours, and Monday morning everyone's email and files are simply there.

STEP 3

Secure & Configure

MFA, conditional access, device enrollment, backup, and sensible defaults configured before we call it done. A migrated tenant on factory settings is half a job.

STEP 4

Manage & Improve

We administer the tenant day to day: new hires, departures, licensing, updates, and the questions in between, as part of your managed services plan.

Work From Anywhere

The Office Is Wherever Your People Are

When Microsoft 365 is configured properly, your team works identically from the office, home, or a job site. Files, email, Teams calls, and applications follow the person, not the building, and every device stays managed, encrypted, and protected no matter where it connects from.

That flexibility is the payoff of doing the foundation right, and it's included in how we build every environment under our managed services plans, not an add-on project later.

Microsoft 365 Questions We Hear Most

Can you migrate us without losing email or downtime?
Yes. Mail and files sync to Microsoft 365 in the background while you keep working on your current system, then we schedule the final cutover outside business hours. Your team signs in the next morning and everything is where they expect it. We've migrated businesses from old email hosts, other cloud platforms, and on premises servers using this approach.
Do we still need the server in our office?
Often, no. If your server mostly stores files and handles logins, Microsoft 365 can replace it: files in SharePoint and OneDrive, identity in Microsoft Entra, devices managed through Intune. That eliminates the next hardware refresh, the backup hardware, and the single point of failure sitting in a closet. Some workloads genuinely need a server, and we'll tell you honestly if yours is one of them.
We already have Microsoft 365. Can you just fix and manage what we have?
Absolutely, and that's one of the most common ways we start with a new client. We review your tenant's security settings, licensing, and configuration, fix what's weak or wasteful, and then manage it going forward. No migration required if you're already on the platform.
What does Microsoft 365 cost for a small business?
Licensing is priced per user per month and varies by plan, and most businesses we review are paying for more than they use or the wrong mix entirely. We right-size licensing as part of every engagement, and tenant management is included in our managed services plans, so you get one predictable monthly number instead of surprises.
How long does a migration take?
A typical small business migration runs one to three weeks from kickoff to cutover, depending on how much data is moving and what it's moving from. The disruptive part, the actual switchover, happens in a single evening or weekend. Larger file migrations or server retirements extend the project, but never your downtime.
