Assess

Start with your business needs and existing setup. For a migration project, assess the source systems, data, access, licensing, and dependencies before agreeing the work and schedule.

STEP 2

Migrate

Prepare the destination and transfer data using an approach suited to the systems involved. Agree a cutover window, explain what staff must do, and plan checks and contingencies around the change.

STEP 3

Secure & Configure

Configure the agreed access controls, device policies, and protection settings. Check that people can use the tools they need, with permissions that match their roles.

STEP 4

Manage & Improve

Ongoing tenant administration can cover users, departures, licensing, and configuration under your managed agreement. Use our employee IT offboarding checklist to plan a departure, and keep the setup documented as the business changes.

Give staff an appropriate way to reach their files, email, and collaboration tools from the locations where they work. Device management and access policies help protect that flexibility. Internet connectivity, application compatibility, and the user's equipment still matter.

We plan Microsoft 365 alongside your managed IT services and backup and recovery needs. Ongoing management and separately scoped project work are explained in your agreement.

How do you minimize disruption during a Microsoft 365 migration?
We check the existing systems, data, access, and dependencies before planning the transfer. Where the platform supports it, preparation and data synchronization can happen before the final cutover. We agree the change window with you and explain the steps staff will need to take. Our approach is carefully planned migrations with minimal disruption, not a blanket promise that every migration has zero downtime.
Do we still need the server in our office?
Possibly. It depends on the applications, files, identity services, and other work the server supports. Some businesses can use SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Entra for needs previously handled onsite. Others have sound reasons to keep a server. We assess compatibility, dependencies, and business needs before recommending a change. Moving to Microsoft 365 does not automatically mean replacing hardware or removing your server.
We already have Microsoft 365. Can you manage what we have?
Yes. We can often take over administration of the existing Microsoft 365 tenant, review access and licensing, apply an appropriate baseline, and manage it going forward. That is not the same as migrating to a new tenant. We need authorized administrative access and information about the current setup. Any separate migration or major configuration project is discussed before work begins.
What affects Microsoft 365 costs for a small business?
The mix of users, required features, security and device-management needs, and subscription commitments affects licensing costs. Project work and ongoing administration also need to be understood. BCIT defines the managed services scope and explains covered work and licensing in the proposal. We do not assume a cheaper license is better if it removes a capability the business needs.
How long does a migration take?
Timing depends on the source platform, data volume, account access, application dependencies, and the change windows your business can accommodate. We assess those factors and agree a schedule for the actual project. An administrative handover of an existing tenant may involve very different work from a full migration. We will not invent a completion date before understanding the starting point.
